OPI Pink Me I'm Good plus layering experiments

Ulta's Valentine's Day exclusive OPI, Pink Me I'm Good, did not thrill me.  In fact, I can't see myself using it ever again (unless it's for comparison purposes) and I just might have to give it away.  To see if it would be worth layering, I picked out a black, a red, a pink, plus a purple and blue from OPI's Spring/Summer 2010 Hong Kong collection.

I decided to go with three coats of Pink Me I'm Good.  (In the second picture, other colors are from Sephora by OPI's Spring 2010 collection, and I'll review those in another post.)  Many apologies for the frazzle, tipwear and chipping throughout these pictures.  It just goes to show how much I really didn't want to take pictures and blog about this polish.

I'd describe Pink Me as a hot pink jelly with golden glitter that can look more pink or coral because it's under a layer or two of hot pink.  In my notes, I wrote that you don't usually see the aqua glitter in this polish, which makes me wonder if I started seeing things after staring at my nails for too long. ;D  Or maybe not- see my review below of Pink Me over a black crème.  This polish is absolutely a pain in the rear to deal with- very thick and gloopy.  I'd say it needs thinner right off the bat, which is never good.

On my right hand, I layered one coat of Pink Me over each crème color.  On my thumb is two coats of OPI's Suzi Says Feng Shui (NL H46) from the Hong Kong collection.  When I topped it with Pink Me, the blue base may may have gotten a little darker, but it still definitely looks blue.  The pink/gold glitter looks kind of coppery orange, which makes the whole combination remind me of a Barielle that was released within the last year.  On my index finger is two coats of OPI's Dim Sum Plum (NL H44.)  The pinkness of Pink Me doesn't seem to have affected the base of Plum much; Pink Me seems to have darkened Plum's pinky purple base, or at least made it a little more red.  The glitter from Pink Me seems a little more gold/orange over PlumDim Sum Plum was almost completely opaque with one coat, but two evened it out on my nail just a little more.  On my middle finger is Wet n Wild's standard Black Crème (424A) and it was opaque in one coat.   The black base with gold, orange and aqua (?!) glitter from Pink Me was my favorite look out of all of the layering I did.  On my ring finger, I have two coats of Sephora by OPI's Personal Shopper (though one coat was almost enough.)  This was my second favorite layering look.  The pink of Pink Me pinked up the red of Shopper and the glitter looked coppery orange.  On my pinkie is Sephora by OPI's Dear Diary... .  This nail really shows the unevenness/streakiness/PITAness of Pink Me.  If you're going to layer Pink Me over a lighter color, you may want to do more than one coat of it, or thin Pink Me so that it's less goopy.

Maybe not every bottle of Pink Me I'm Good is thick.  Even if I had a bum bottle, I still think this hot pink with glitter is a little unimaginative.  Were the glitter smaller or in a different shape (or shapes), that might have appealed to me much more.

If you're still interested in Pink Me I'm Good after all that, you can enter to win it! :)

I am sorry you didn't like the color. it is one of my lemmings right now, btu there are no Ulta's in NYC. I think it is a lovely pink, and it looks very nice on you too!

I'm sure Ulta took one look at NYC, saw all the wonderful beauty store options y'all have, and ran away screaming! ;-)

Thanks for the compliment! I think you could probably franken your own hot pink jelly, then add some gold Martha Stewart craft glitter and get a really similar color. But then, the craft glitter might be smaller than the glitter in Pink Me. I just don't like how big and square the glitter is. Maybe I'm just too picky. :-P If I find something similar, I'll definitely let you know!!

I never even thought to check eBay for the Coach polish set you have. I didn't want to pay over $200 just to get polish, either!

Love the color of your nails. Must try that color combination and it's nice to see.
